Red Light Therapy Results After 30 Days

Red light therapy results, 30 day before and after.

Welcome back, my lovely LLVB community. As you know, back in June I set out to take on a 90-day at-home Red Light Therapy challenge. Red light therapy is a wonderful way to boost collagen, soften fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture, and calm inflammation, and I wanted to add it to my skincare regimen for a full 90 days so I could experience those benefits for myself. If you missed the beginning of this journey, you can learn all about how it works in my introductory post, Why I Started Exploring Red Light Therapy After 40.

For the first 30 days, I used my Amiro Spectra 5-in-1 LED Light Therapy Mask in Firm Mode, which combines red and infrared light, three times a week for 10 minutes per session. So here are my honest red light therapy results after 30 days, along with a few interesting observations I picked up along the way.

What to Realistically Expect After 30 Days of Red Light Therapy

Okay, let’s be honest. 30 days is not enough to see dramatic results in the skin. However, the power of consistency within those 30 days of at-home red light therapy is foundational. Here are four key things to realistically expect.

  1. Activation of Skin Cells. Everything is happening beneath the surface. Red and Infrared light are stimulating that mitochondria to boost your skin cells with enough fuel to repair and regenerate. Go mitochondria go!
  2. More Hydration and More Glow. Within 30 days your blood circulation is increasing and therefore delivering oxygen and vital nutrients to the skin’s surface. Your skin barrier is loving it, by the way. This allows your skin to get a boost in moisture and radiance. Fantastic!
  3. Less Redness and Inflammation. After 30 days, you should expect your skin to look calmer and less red in sensitive areas like your cheeks and nose. You are on your way to a more even-tone base.
  4. Slight Texture Refinement. Major changes to skin texture will happen over time. However, you may see minor rough spots or blemish recovery times speed up because the light supports natural healing and cellular turnover. Keep doing your thing RLT!

Did I Actually Stay Consistent?

As I learned earlier, consistency is key. Those initial 30 days landed right at the peak of summer wedding season, and I even traveled to Mexico for work in the middle of it all. So did I stay consistent? Yes. Were there evenings I wanted to skip the whole thing out of pure exhaustion? Absolutely! On those nights I simply shifted my session to a different day, but I always made sure I completed my three sessions each week. What surprised me is how quickly it stopped feeling like one more task and became a way to unwind and quiet both my body and my mind. Which is truly the best approach to take on this 90-day red light therapy challenge.

What I Noticed During the 30 Days

Initial Observations

In that first week, the changes I noticed were all about texture. The skin on my lips felt softer and less dry, and my whole face seemed to drink in products differently. In fact, one of the first things I noticed was how much better my skincare seemed to absorb. My serums and moisturizers felt like they were penetrating at a deeper level, which makes sense given how at-home red light therapy is thought to prime the skin.

Unexpected and Welcomed Results

I also had an unexpected little test while I was in Mexico. I caught some extra sun on my forehead, the kind of burn that usually leaves me peeling a few days later. This time, I experienced zero peeling. Research has shown how red and infrared light may support the skin’s natural healing process, so I would like to think my nightly sessions gave my skin a bit of a head start.

My Red Light Therapy Results After 30 Days

Now for the part you have all been waiting for. At the 30-day mark, I lined up my Day 1 and Day 30 photos side by side, and here is my honest professional observation.

The biggest change is hydration and how my skin has a healthier glow. The highlight along my cheekbones reads as smooth and reflective now, rather than the surface shine that usually just means oil. My complexion also looks calmer, with noticeably less redness and inflammation, especially around my cheeks and the sides of my nose. The texture across my cheeks and forehead looks a touch more refined, my overall tone is more even so fewer spots immediately draw the eye, and even my under-eye area looks slightly brighter, with a little less shadowing.

Now, in the spirit of keeping it real, let me tell you what has not changed. My freckles and pigmentation look essentially the same, which is exactly what I expected at only one month. My jawline looks a little sharper in the Day 30 photo, but I am not going to call that a structural change, because it could just as easily be hydration, a less puffy day, or the lighting. I am wearing different shirts, so some of what your eye catches is those differences and not the therapy alone. The real, repeatable wins here are the glow and the calmer, more even tone.

The Surprise Win After 30 days

Here is what I did not expect. The biggest gift of these first 30 days was not something I could photograph at all. It was the 10 minutes. In a season packed with weddings, travel, and the usual noise of daily life, those three sessions a week became a small pocket of stillness that was just mine. There is something about lying back, letting the warm light do its work, and having a built-in reason to put my phone down and simply be. No scrolling, no to-do list, no one needing anything from me. Just quiet.

I went into this challenge thinking of it as a beauty treatment, and it turned out to be a soul-care ritual too. When we take care of our skin, we are really taking care of ourselves, and sometimes the outer glow is just a reflection of finally giving yourself a moment to rest.

The Challenge Continues

I will be back with my Day 60 update to show you how things are progressing. That is the halfway point, and it is usually when the firmer, smoother changes start to show, so I am already looking forward to it.
